SHARED Framework
This section builds on the SHARED framework phase descriptions provided in Section 1, offering a practical collection of tools organised according to each phase of the framework. It breaks down the tools and processes into clear and manageable stages, each with specific objectives and activities. The toolkit’s tools and processes are thoughtfully organised according to these phases, enabling facilitators and practitioners to select and apply the most relevant methods at each step. This phased distribution ensures that engagement is purposeful, adaptive, and responsive to evolving insights. This helps teams to build strong relationships, generate actionable knowledge, and foster collaborative solutions throughout the entire process.
The SHARED toolkit brings together a curated selection of approximately 35 tools and processes used to support collaborative, creative, and impactful processes. Some of these tools have been developed by our team, while others are widely recognised methods that we have adapted to fit the SHARED approach. In some cases, we use established tools as they are, acknowledging their proven value across many contexts. Where tools originate from other sources, we acknowledge their origins and highlight how they contribute to the SHARED process. For example, stakeholder mapping is a common tool in many fields; what makes it unique in SHARED is how we integrate it into our overall process, emphasising its role at multiple stages and encouraging ongoing adaptation and iteration.

What sets the SHARED methodology apart is not just the selection of tools and processes, but the way they are woven together into a dynamic, adaptive process. Our distinctive approach lies in how we combine mapping, stakeholder engagement, insight generation, data analysis, and creativity as foundational elements throughout the entire process. These elements are not one-off steps, but dynamic components that are revisited and refined as your work evolves. By sequencing and integrating these tools and processes purposefully, the SHARED toolkit offers a flexible, holistic framework that supports continuous learning, adaptation, and innovation.
We invite you to use, adapt, and revisit these tools as your project develops to make the toolkit your own and ensure it remains relevant and effective for your unique context.
